The officers of TexasWake will be hosting the first official general meeting for spring 2008 on Monday, February 11th at 7:00PM.

The meeting will be held in the UTC, however, we have not received our room assignment from SOC. We expect to get this assignment no later than Saturday, so please check every communication forum for the most updated venue.

It is very important that every member and officer attend this meeting, as we will be laying the ground-work for the entire semester: Meeting itinerary includes but is not limited to:

*Welcome new members and introductions

*Walk through planned event calendar and make adjustments / suggestions

*Look at the financial standing of TexasWake as an organization

*Discuss leadership opportunities for fall 2008

*Open forum discussion of comments / suggestions in general

Having that said, I want to once again thank everyone who participated in the recruiting efforts early in the spring. Together we were able to bring in $3,150 in revenue while adopting 21 new members to our organization roster.

I would also like to thank all of our newest members and leadership council who were able to attend the 1st semi-annual BeerBQ. To those in attendance, you can concur that it was quite the experience and that the east-side volleyball team got beat down, HARD.

Hope you all have an excellent weekend and feel free to contact Dana McCormick, TexasWake Secretary, with any logistical questions concerning Monday’s meeting. Her contact information can be found in the ‘right’ pane of this webpage.

Jonathan R. Gard

Texas Wake 101

TexasWake is The University of Texas' only and finest inter-collegiate wakeboarding club/team. Comprised of roughly 100 members, TexasWakers engage in weekly time on the lake and social events to foster friendships between members.

Headed by President Jonathan Honsinger and Vice President Austin Hegarty, TexasWake was built from the ground-up beginning in April of 2007. Since then, TexasWake has become recognized state-wide as a premier wakeboarding organization.

The competitive team, comprised of 8-13 members, has proven to be eccentric, both in pre-tournament synergy and skill domination. After winning our first tournament as an offical team in early summer, TexasWake hosted "The First Annual Summer Classic at the Capital" which pronounced to the Texas Wakeboarding Community that The University of Texas is now on the map.

In addition to the competitive team, non-competition riders engage weekly in day trips to Lake Austin where experienced riders mentor and provide tips for skill improvement. Because TexasWake operates year round, members of TexasWake are given an opportunity to augment these skills more so than other universities, thus giving TexasWake a sustainable competitive advantage against potential competition.

TexasWake realizes that there's more to an organization than its title, hence the need for social interaction. TexasWake is founded on the simple principle: Friendship. Because of this underlying cause, members of the Social Committee strive to provide bi-monthly events to enhance member cohesiveness and interaction. Among these events might include, but are not limited to: Campouts, BBQs, Tailgates, House Parties, Community Service, and Cliff Jumping Adventures.

Additionally, realizing our immaturity as an organization, TexasWake strives to be self-proficient. However, the well-being and success of TexasWake thus far could not be recognized without the help of area supporters such as: Texas Ski Ranch and Under360.

In aggregate: TexasWake is a self-running machine specializing in self-improvement and solid fun. We encourage all members to be a team-player and to accept fellow members as they are. By creating bonds centered around a central interest, wakeboarding, members of TexasWake form life-long companionships and build trust between individuals. On behalf of TexasWake, I welcome you to our organization...
